Who is this for?
This workshop is for Special Needs Assistants and Teachers who work with children aged between 3-12, who would like to know more the about Sensory Processing difficulties and how they may impact a child’s participation in school. Sensory issues are a commonly occurring feature in conditions such as Autism, ADHD, DCD/Dyspraxia, Joint hypermobility and Down’s syndrome.
What will the workshop cover? The workshop will…
· Explain the senses and how information from all the senses is processed and integrated.
· Demonstrate the experience of children with sensory processing difficulties.
· How sensory processing difficulties impact a child’s attention, communication and behaviour.
· Give strategies and examples of materials to support these children in the classroom.
Who delivers the workshop and how long does it last? The workshop is delivered by an Occupational Therapist and a Special Education Needs Teacher. It will last 2 hours.
