Message from our Director
I would like to formally introduce myself to you.
My name is Niamh Murray and I am the recently appointed Director of Blackrock Education Centre.
It is hard to believe that more than a month has gone by since I took on the role of Director of this wonderful Education Centre.
I want to assure all of you that I, along with our incredibly hard working staff here in Blackrock Education Centre, will do our very best to provide you with all the supports and educational experiences and courses needed to help you in your educational journey whether as learner or leader of learning…..although we are all learners and leaders of learning!
Be assured of a very warm welcome from each of us here in the Centre and we all look forward to the fast-approaching day when we can all meet face to face and interact with one another in an environment conducive to collegiality and consultation and collaboration and self-development and fun and maybe even a bit of Music!
I love the poetry of Seamus Heaney and one poem in particular which, although written for his wife and the strength of their partnership, could also be applied to the strength experienced by each of us in Education as we work together in partnership for the good of those we teach and lead, confident that we are putting educational structures/scaffolds in place in order to secure very strong foundations for all learners and leaders of learning.
‘Masons when they start upon a building,
Are careful to test out the scaffolding;
Make sure that planks won’t slip at busy points,
Secure all ladders, tighten bolted joints.
And yet all this comes down when the job’s done
Showing off walls of sure and solid stone.
So if, my dear, there sometimes seem to be
Old bridges breaking between you and me
Never fear. We may let the scaffolds fall
Confident that we have built our wall.’
