Neuroscience Workshop for Teachers (14/3/19)

In April 2019, the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) will launch a new education programme aimed at empowering primary and secondary school students with an understanding of themselves and the world around them. At the centre of this initiative, a FREE toolkit of curated lesson plans, activities and resources has been developed for neuroscientists and teachers to take into the classroom.
With topics spanning ‘core neuroscience’, ‘the scientific process’, ‘careers in STEM’ and ‘brain health’, these sessions will grow the student’s ‘science capital’ and give them a fascinating introduction to the field.

neuroscUKNeuroscience Ireland and the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) are committed to promoting brain awareness. We recognise that introducing children to the brain and its functions at an early age is crucial to forming their understanding and attitude towards brain health. Dr Alex Collcutt is the Education and Engagement Officer at the British Neuroscience Association (BNA), the largest UK organisation representing and promoting neuroscience and neuroscientists. In this session, Alex will take you through the idea behind the programme and run through some engaging neuroscience games and activities for you to carry out in your own classrooms.

neuroscIRThe workshop will be held during International Brain Awareness week, on Thursday 14th March (3.30pm-6.00pm) in the O’Brien Science Centre at UCD. Activities will focus on primary school and early-year secondary school education. Participation is FREE, but places are limited.
